Signs Your Ducts Need Attention
One room never keeps up. The rest of the house is comfortable and one bedroom is not. That is almost always the run feeding it, not the equipment.
The system runs and runs. If cooled air is leaking into the attic, the unit never satisfies the thermostat. Long run times with a healthy system point at the ducts.
Weak air at the registers. Put your hand at a vent. If the air is barely moving while the blower is clearly working, something between the two is restricting it.
Dust that keeps coming back. Leaky returns pull attic air, insulation fibres, and dust straight into the system and blow it around the house.
Bills climbing with no change in habits. Duct leakage gets worse as tape fails and runs pull loose. The cost shows up gradually, which is why it goes unnoticed for years.

Duct Work Questions, Answered
How do I know the ducts are the problem and not the AC?
You measure. Static pressure tells you whether the system is fighting the duct work, and airflow at the registers tells you where it is going. A unit that is correctly charged and still cannot cool a room is usually a duct problem, not an equipment problem.
How much air is actually being lost?
In a typical North Texas attic with builder-grade flex, leakage in the twenty to thirty percent range is common. That is air you paid to cool going into the attic instead of the bedrooms.
Is duct sealing the same as duct cleaning?
No, and they get confused constantly. Cleaning removes dust from inside the ducts. Sealing closes the gaps that leak conditioned air and pull in attic air. Sealing is the one that shows up on your bill.
Why is one room always hotter?
Usually a crushed or disconnected run feeding it, a boot that came loose from the ceiling, or a duct sized too small for the room. All three are visible once someone goes up and looks.
Can you repair ducts or does it all have to be replaced?
Most of the time it is repair. Re-hanging sagging runs, sealing joints, and replacing failed boots fixes a lot. Full replacement is for duct that has been crushed, torn, or is so undersized the system was never going to work.
Will this actually lower my bill?
If the ducts are leaking badly, yes, because the system stops cooling the attic. We would rather measure first and tell you the leakage is minor than sell you a repair that changes nothing.
