Almost always an oversized system. It cools the air quickly, hits the thermostat setting, and shuts off before it has run long enough to condense moisture out of the air. Near the lake that shows up worse than it would elsewhere. Longer run times, not more capacity, are the fix.
Why does my condensate line keep clogging?
Humid air means more condensate, and more condensate means more chances for the algae and dust sludge in the drain line to build up. Little Elm homes see it more than most. A yearly flush during maintenance prevents the overflow that ends up on a ceiling.
My house was built in 2005 and the AC is original. How much time is left?
Realistically you are near the end. Most residential systems run fifteen to twenty years in this climate, and lake humidity does not extend that. We will tell you what shape yours is in and whether planning a replacement beats waiting for a July failure.
