Fifty Years of Houses Along the South End of the Lake

Located Just North of You

Serving Lewisville for 10+ Years

Lewisville grew in stages along I-35E at the south end of Lewisville Lake, from the older streets around Old Town to the neighborhoods of the 1970s and 1980s and on to newer areas near the toll road. With that much range, two calls on the same afternoon can look nothing alike, one a forty year old house on its third system and the next a newer home with a variable speed unit.

In the older houses the plumbing deserves a look along with the HVAC. Homes from the late 1970s into the mid 1990s were sometimes plumbed with gray polybutylene supply lines, which are known to fail with age. We check for it when we are already under a sink or at the water heater. Our shop is in Krugerville, about twenty five minutes north. HMS Heating & Air Conditioning has been in business since 2015.

HMS deserves every one of these 5 star reviews! Andrew and Nate were super friendly, quick and easy to work with. They found the issue didn't push any extra products but did present all my options. I'll be calling them from now…

Frequently Asked

Questions

What Lewisville homeowners ask us about older houses, supply lines, and aging systems.

Still not sure, call our team (940) 222-9313
Does HMS cover all of Lewisville?

Yes, from Old Town to the newer neighborhoods. We drive down from Krugerville, about twenty five minutes, and can usually offer a visit within a day or two.

How do I know if my house has polybutylene pipe?

Look for gray plastic supply lines at the water heater, under sinks, or where the water enters the house. It was common in homes built from the late 1970s to the mid 1990s. If you find it, we can talk through repair or repiping options.

Our house is on its third AC. Should the ducts be replaced too?

If the ducts are original to a 1980s house, there is a good chance they leak or have collapsed in places. We check them during the estimate, because a new system on bad ducts will not perform the way it should.

Is a heat pump a good fit for an older Lewisville home?

Often yes. Modern heat pumps handle North Texas winters well, and in an all electric house they usually beat old electric furnaces on cost. We look at your home and current bills before recommending one.

Do you repair sewer lines?

We do. Older homes can have drain lines that have cracked or sagged under the slab, and we can help locate the problem and explain the fix before any digging.

Do you have payment options for a new system?

Yes. Apply online with our financing partner for a quick decision, and we book the install as soon as you are approved. See the financing page.

Water is pooling near the indoor unit. What should I do?

Turn the system off at the thermostat to stop more water from building up, then check whether the condensate drain line is clogged. If you cannot clear it, call (940) 222-9313.
